5 Easy Ways to Celebrate Earth Day 2021

Go for a Walk

Admire clouds, flowers and trees. Say hello to birds, butterflies, and squirrels.

Feel your feet touch the ground. Enjoy being alive. Breathe.

Bonus Idea: Make this a shopping trip to a local store.

Benefit: You gain fresh air and exercise.

Be Kind

Wave hello to neighbors. Acknowledge strangers with a nod or a greeting. Smile.

Help someone. Offer praise. Write a love note.

Find ways to be grateful. Thank others for anything and everything.

Benefit: You receive what you give.

Be Frugal

Start your vehicle after fastening your seat belt. Turn off the engine as soon as you park. And never sit in your vehicle with the engine running.

Drive slower. Coast to red lights (instead of accelerate).

Benefit: You could save hundreds (or more) every year.

Buy Organic Foods

Eat mindfully. Savor the natural taste and textures.

Benefit: Organic foods contribute to better health.

Be Involved

Join (or support) an organization that works to make the world better (Such as Audubon or Sierra Club).

Volunteer to help with activities that protect our environment.

Benefit: You gain comfort knowing that you are part of the solution.

Did You Know?

The most effective way to help birds is to buy land.

Here are three organizations that excel at doing this.

1) American Bird Conservancy

2) The Nature Conservancy

3) The Trust for Public Land

Please visit their web sites to learn about the work they do.

Here’s an excellent book: The American Bird Conservancy Guide to Bird Conservation
