Celebrate Earth Day

Allen’s Hummingbird, Female
Celebrate Earth Day With Your Best Friend
Imagine Nature is a wonderful friend. Then you might:
🌲 Visit
Go outside to spend time in Nature.
For example, you could visit a local park, a garden, or a wild space.
You could go for a walk in your neighborhood.
Or you could simply sit outside.
Then breathe deep, letting the experience fill your heart.
Note that: Nature promotes serenity.
🌲 Share
Bring others with you. Invite family, friends, or neighbors to join you.
Then talk about what is around you.
If you bring a child, use the time to show what you find. So you can share the names of birds, plants, or critters. And then you can talk about how they live.
Note that: Adults create memorable moments for children when they share what they know.
🌲 Grow
Use your visit to learn.
For example, you could read about what you see.
Or you could take photos and then use the photos to identify what you see.
And you can ask knowledgeable friends to learn about what is there.
Note that: Knowledge enriches an experience.

American Robin
🌲 Listen
As with any visit with a good friend, let them talk.
Encourage friendly conversation by asking guiding questions.
For example, you could ask a tree how it copes with winter. You could ask a flower about its plans for spring. You could ask a squirrel what it wants to do during summer. Or you could ask a bird where it plans to go in autumn.
Then wait for answers to appear.
Note that: Silence creates space for wisdom.
🌲 Service
If practical and possible, offer help.
For example:
1) You could tell a stranger about a bird you saw.
By the way, I do this often, even with common birds. For example, I might say, “There’s an American Robin.”
2) You could plant flowers or pick up trash.
3) Or you could volunteer to participate in an Earth Day activity.
Note that: We’re responsible for taking care of the Earth that supports us.

Eastern Fox Squirrel
🌲 Praise
Offer compliments to the life around you.
Tell flowers they are pretty. Praise squirrels for being good squirrels. Or tell trees you admire their persistence.
Note that: Praise always feels good because we hear what we say.
🌲 Gratitude
Thank everyone that you meet, which includes the birds, butterflies, critters, and so on. Tell them you appreciate what they do to make our Earth so special.
Note that: Good people show gratitude.
Much success,
