Want to Give Something Special?

Western Bluebird, Female

Once there was a small bird who wanted to give something special.

So she went to the eagles for advice on what she could do.

“Be the best bird you can be,” they said.

That seemed good. And she wanted more. So she went to the hummingbirds for advice.

“Fly with courage,” they said.

That also seemed wise. And she wanted more. So she went to the doves for advice.

“Make peace your partner,” they said.

That was nice, the bird thought. And she really wanted an idea for something special she could give.

So she flew to a grove of ancient trees known for their wisdom.

She landed on a branch and said, ” I want to give something special. What might it be?”

For a moment, the trees moved with the wind. Then the wind paused and the trees spoke.

“You are a memory for all you know.

So give the kind of memory you would want them to have.

Since all life is connected, your good memory will inspire them to be a good memory for others.

Thus it will continue forever.

And that will make your gift profoundly special.”

Much success,

Steve Kaye

Did You Know?

The most effective way to help birds is to buy land.

Here are three organizations that excel at doing this.

1) American Bird Conservancy

2) The Nature Conservancy

3) The Trust for Public Land

Please visit their web sites to learn about the work they do.

Here’s an excellent book: The American Bird Conservancy Guide to Bird Conservation

Hello Steve Kaye, I am so grateful for having the opportunity to meet and work with you at PMI-LA from approximately 2002 to 2006.

It was pure delight to discover your career path…that you were an Engineer and then in the 1990’s you were a frequent presenter at Kellogg West which is on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona where I was an Agriculture student.
I purchased your book, Life Poems, and my favorite is, “The Other Side”, I too am on my 3rd career. I started out with a career in Agriculture and then I gravitated to Project Management. I now volunteer for a national charity.
