Story about a tree that helped

Oregon Dark-eyed Junco, Male
This tree story happened a few days ago.
Have you ever wavered with a decision?
Last week, I wondered whether to go out or stay home.
Finally, I decided to go. So I packed my camera and drove to a park.
Once there, I felt disappointed: No birds.
Maybe, I wondered, all the birds had left for a conference.
So I drove to another area, and then to another area, and then to another area.
I parked at the last one, which was near the exit to the park.
Even though I saw no birds, I walked to a large tree.
Then I rested my forearm against the tree, took a deep breath, and asked the tree for help.
And the tree seemed to say, “Look to your left.”
So I looked. And I saw movement on the ground about 100 feet away.
I went back to my car for my camera. And then walked gently toward the motion.
And there they were: Birds.
First, there were Dark-Eyed Juncos, both the male (above) and the female (below).

And then a Yellow-rumped Warbler landed.

From this small adventure I learned:
😀 Success depends upon taking a small step forward.
🐥 There are always solutions (such as birds) waiting to be found.
🌲 Talking to a tree can help.
And as an added bonus, this simple story led to the blog you just read.
Much success,
Steve Kaye
