Three essential words determine your future.

Monarch Butterfly, who lives in a world of yes

These three essential words also define your legacy.

So if you’re wondering how to take that one small action described last month, use these three words.

✅ Word #1: Yes.

People who achieve more, think in terms of Yes instead of no.

They consider possibilities instead of liabilities.

They put Yes in the headline of each day’s intentions.

Most important, they talk themselves into doing something, instead of doing nothing.

And to support this, they create personal schedules, strategies, and systems that make Yes possible.

As a result, they take actions that lead to accomplishing something.

Of course, they take smart risks, evaluate their progress, and make changes as necessary.

✅ Word #2: We.

People who achieve more, think in terms of We, instead of me.

Every achievement results from a team effort.

So first, build a network of friends.

And then meet each possibility by asking yourself: Who can help? Who might benefit from being part of this? Who knows something useful?

Then reach out. Talk to people about possibilities. Seek encouragement. Ask questions. And listen.

✅ Word #3: Can.

People who achieve more, think in terms of Can, instead of cannot.

In fact, they believe: 1) They can achieve, and 2) They deserve to achieve.

So they greet possibilities as opportunities to contribute, grow, and learn.

They even welcome adversities as opportunities to create a legacy they admire.

Of course, this depends upon choosing ethical achievements that benefit others.

And working with kindness always leads to greater success.

One more consideration: There are no guarantees.

You will feel better about what you do when you focus on your efforts instead of on your results.

First, you have control over your efforts.

Second, good efforts increase your chances of obtaining good results.

Third, your efforts are often more commendable than your results. That is, you kept going, you behaved well, you did your best.

Much success,

Steve Kaye

Did You Know?

The most effective way to help birds is to buy land.

Here are three organizations that excel at doing this.

1) American Bird Conservancy

2) The Nature Conservancy

3) The Trust for Public Land

Please visit their web sites to learn about the work they do.

Here’s an excellent book: The American Bird Conservancy Guide to Bird Conservation

Butterflies exist solely on sugar and sex: not a bad role model? They ARE “doing”!
