31 Oct Significance | Oct 2024
Good news: Significance can be achieved by anybody, regardless of who they are or what they have.
More so, we can achieve significance without relying on luck, special connections, or tricky strategies.
Here’s how:
1) Strive to make life better.
This can be achieved simply by acting with kindness. Beyond this, we can support (or be an active participant) in organizations that work to help others, make the world better, or protect our environment.
2) Support truth.
This matters because truth is essential for a functioning, sustainable society. So we support people, organizations, and media that tell the truth. And of course, we tell the truth.
3) Honor science.
This begins with using science to make informed, smart decisions. Then we support this by studying science to help with making the best possible choices.
4) Respect Nature.
This acknowledges that our lives depend upon having a healthy, vibrant environment. So we protect, and even enhance, the environment. Thus, we conserve energy, minimize waste, buy organic foods, and so on. We might even plant trees.
5) Help others.
This happens when we share what we realistically can. Thus, we share our wealth, whether it’s in the form of creativity, knowledge, strength, time, or resources to help those who have less. That’s because wealth has value only when we share it.
6) Reward good behavior.
This begins with praise. And then it extends into support. Through this, we magnify our values of compassion, kindness, and responsibility.
7) Include others.
This recognizes that we achieve more when working as a team. In fact, outstanding leaders facilitate teamwork that helps others achieve significance.
There’s an important point here.
We are at a time when we need more people working toward significance instead of success.
That includes being helpful, honest, and kind.
Much success,
Steve Kaye
